+<br>"We are not going to let this land go even if it indicates shedding blood," he told the BBC.<br>
+<br>"Land is very essential to us. We farm and get our income from it. On this land we bury our dead."<br>
+<br>He is among the lots of people opposed to the development of a large [biofuel](https://www.nasdaq.com/market-activity/ipos/overview?dealId=804419-65608) plantation in the area, about an hour's drive inland from the seaside town of Malindi.<br>

+<br>This plant, originally from South America, has long been grown in Africa as a hedge to keep out animals - goats remain well away as it is dangerous. The location impacted is [community land](https://pitchbook.com/profiles/company/51278-86) which is being held in trust by the local council.<br>
